.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 211 PM CDT Fri Jun 27 2025

while hot and humid conditions are expected to persist across the
state in the coming days, it appears that heat indices will remain
below advisory criteria. In addition, there will be occasional rain
chances through much of the period and this along with the
associated cloud cover should lead to slightly cooler daytime highs.

In the mid-levels, diffuse ridging will persist across the SW and
south-central US through this weekend while the weak, cutoff low
continues to meander across the SE. For Saturday, a weak H500
disturbance will drift ENE from Oklahoma, moving across northern
parts of the state. This will lead to greater coverage of showers
and thunderstorms during the afternoon/evening hours Saturday. A
similar situation may be seen Sunday as well, but slightly less
coverage is expected across the area. High PW values and little
flow aloft will allow some of these storms to produce heavy
rainfall.

By early next week things begin to change across the state and much
of the country. The H500 ridge that has been in place across the
southern US will build westward and expand across the western US.
This will be in response to a quick moving mid-level trough expected
to move from the Northern Plains toward the Great Lakes Mon-Tue. At
the sfc, a cold front will progress toward the state from the NW.

This front is expected to make it into the state before stalling.
This could lead to slightly cooler temperatures by Tue-Wed. As the
front stalls it will also remain the focus for daily chances of
showers/storms. At this time, northern AR looks to be favored for
the highest rainfall totals through next week. And while it doesn`t
look very dry near the end of the period, it does appear that the
H500 ridge will attempt to redevelop over the state leading to
hotter temperatures.

VFR conds are expected at most terminals overnight with the
exception of KHOT and KADF where patchy FG may develop between
08/12z. Conds should improve at those sites after sunrise.
Scattered SHRA/TSRA are expected to develop during the afternoon
possible affect all terminals. Given the scattered nature of
convection, opted with PROB30s until confidence increases. Winds
will be variable between 5-10 kts on Sat.
